Rita finally gets close enough to a dodo to pet it---but only because it injured its foot. She takes the critter home, nursing it with affection and too much food. The now overweight dodo needs exercise badly. Rita learns that caring for others requires what is good for them, not for you. And, in doing so, now has a new best friend
